I just recently got a PS3, a new sony 32 inch lcd hdtv and the spiderman trilogy on blu ray, when I watch spiderman 1 the movie takes up the whole screen, but when I watch 2 or 3 I get the black bars like I am watching a wide screen dvd on a started 4:3 tv. Why does it do this? is my tv configured wrong? thanks in advance!

Check the box of the sipdey 1-is it a full screen DVD? And the 2 & 3 editions are widescreen maybe? I could also indicate the Spidey one was shot in 1.85:1 aspect and the other 2 were 2.35:1aspect. which will give you bars. Since you got the trilogy set all three should be same aspect, I should think. What do they look like played on a normal DVD player? Strange indeed. Let us know if you solve the problem.

Thanks for letting us know. You'll notice a lot of widescreen movies are going to have bars.
