I am having a little bit of trouble understanding certain process used in this forum.
What I want to do is convert my Blu-ray movies into MKV files. What exactly do I use to do this? What program is it that does this. I saw one online, dl'd it to see what it was about and like the quality, sound and size...only 8GB in size.It was a complete Blu-ray movie in an MKV format and played extremely well with the VLC player.

well first thing you need to do is rip this movie onto your hard drive.

    Look Here:
    http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvdhd.html

Buy/try this software, it will allow you to copy your movie onto your hard drive.

    1) Rip BD to HDD with AnyDVD HD
    2) Demux desired streams with tsMuxeR
    3) Re-encode if required with MeGUI/x264 or Nero Recode AVC
    4) Mux with mkvmerge GUI to Matroska (mkv)

If you need more information on Blu-ray and ways to manipulate this media, read through the threads that are linked to in my signature.

    Ahhh Ryu77
It's you. Yes it was your guide and links that was driving me crazy to understand. Thanks for jumping in here.
One question: Which one in your link is the mkvmerge program?
Also if I run into issues preparing this can I call on you for step by step guidance? All I want to do is turn them (Blu-ray backups)into MKV files at 8GB at least in size. Thanks.

    Hi all,
Please let's keep in mind that i am new to all this. Just starting to learn. Some of us are able to pick up on the directions here better than others. I just want to learn one thing-Make my Blu-rays into MKV files.
I am almost there I believe. I followed these instructions given by RYU77.
    1) Rip BD to HDD with AnyDVD HD
    2) Demux desired streams with tsMuxeR
    3) Re-encode if required with MeGUI/x264 or Nero Recode AVC
    4) Mux with mkvmerge GUI to Matroska (mkv)

    I did (1)
Did (2) and got the following files from tsMuxer:
    00001.track_4113.264 - 264 file 21+GB
00001.track_4352 - VLC media file (.dts) 3+GB (VLC player is the default for this file)
    00001.track_4355 AC3 audio -196,832KB
    00001.track_4356 AC3 audio -196,832KB
    00001.track_4357 AC3 audio -196,832KB
    00001.track_4608.sup SUP file - 38,590KB
Now at this point I am stuck. (3) and (4) are where I am not sure what to do.
These are the last two issues I am seeking help with. I have Nero 7 Ultra Edition and don't know where to go in this program to do the re-encode. Need assistance with that. And then this Mux with mkvmerge thing. Where do I go to do this. I looked at RYU77 list link and can't see this program there. A little guidance with that and I should be all set with knowing how to do this process without any help. Please someone help me step by step with these last two steps. Thank you.
