why do you need a mac monitor?

    i was just wondering. like if you have a mac, do you specifically need a mac monitor? why? doesnt it have the same connectors as any other monitor.

    They do now in fact all macintoshes now have a standard vga or dvi to vga converter with them the only time you needed a mac monitor was for really old macintosh computers like pre internet macintosh computers.

    The older macs did NEED them, but all new macs have dvi. Plus only two of there computers dont come with a monitor (MacPro and Mac Mini)

    oh cool. so essentially, you COULD use a normal monitor on things like mini mac and mac pro? thanks for ur responses

    yep sure can..i believe the mac mini still comes with an adapter to go to the older VGA monitors. Not sure about the MacPro. But yes both have standard DVI ports.
