the Q im about to ask is partly a ps3 (play tv) Q.now i know theres a ps3 section but it's the digital aspect im unsure of.ok here it goes sony has said there realeasing their play tv (dvb-t) digital tuner in the uk in sep & the rest of europe to follow.now as far as im aware(i could be wrong)all digital tuners in ireland are dvb tuners, starview,s*y,n*l etc not dvb-t so what i would like to learn is whats the diffrence between the two and will play tv work in ireland seeing that it's a dvb-t digital tuner. tanx in advance
so are you saying that a dvb-t tuner wont work in ireland?say for instance i bought one in the uk a brought it back to ireland would it work?or is it somthing to do with terrestrial tv im a bit green when it comes to this digital malarchy.
You may be able to pick up MMDS signals with the right set up and dependent on your location. There is a DTT trial also running in the certain areas but will be switching to MPEG 4 at the end of the month and a recently awarded DTT licence to Boxer DTT, but thats all down the line, maybe then as said I know nothing about play TV.
The irish dtt trial is over tomorrow and RTE will start an own dvb-t broadcast in mpeg4 next weak from Clermont Carn, 3rock and Mt. Leinster. Mpeg4 is not compatible to the UK freeview boxes. UK freeview is using dvb-t with mpeg2. Ch*rus mmds is a other story and the uk freeview boxes are also not compatible.
