Registry Cleaning and General Optimization

Hi all, I regularly do a full reformat every year since I am so hard on my comp - it is where I gain my income through webdesign and emarketing. So far I haven't come across a fool-proof way to clean my registry. I know at this point that I really need to do this since some programs have been running haywire lately and I need another clean format.

Looking for any advice on software great/bad and processes, etc that will optimize my machine and prevent my short shelf-life.

    Thanks in advance.

Wow! CCleaner totally got the job done! I wasn't expecting the clean uninstall utility or the startup control. All those cleaning tasks that take forever are all combined in one. Very nice:)

In CCleaner I like being able to choose which application to clean so it doesnt lose my recent data from those apps. Also using the registry cleaner section after uninstalling programs helps totally delete junk files left behind.
