I am able to connect to servers but when I make a server, my friends cant join. Also, when I make a server, I look in the command box and it says that it is running on port 127.0.0.1:27015. and when i got to type ip in the command box, a suggestion of "ip localhost" shows up. So is counter strike trying to run on local network? I used sv_lan 0 and nothing changed.

ive also had this same problem but on team fortress 2...and yes its a lan game...in order for your friends to connect and for your game to appear on the server list you must forward some ports...i posted a question on afterdawn asking which ports i need to forward but no one has answered =( . i have also searched the internet but no luck ...

I think you forward ports 27005, 27010, and 27015 on both udp and tcp to make sure.
