hi i am trying to get two hard drives working on my computer they are both working 1 actually works on my computer bt the other 1 only works on my freinds computer how can i get it to work on mine it is the same brand thanks in advance

ide or sata drives? if ide then are they jumpered as master, slave or cable select?

Set your friends drive to slave setting, if ide, you'll see some jumper pins on the back of the drive.

If sata make sure your drive is plugged into sata port 1 on the motherboard and your friends drive is plugged into port 2.

I am sorry i am not very good with computers, it is a maxtor DiamondMax plus 9 120GB ATA/133 HDD. Does this help sorry if it doesn't.

i deleted that post for you. that is an ide drive. is the computer a name brand like dell or a no name from local computer store? is that drive on the same cable as yours or on different cable?

Hi and thanks, it is a custom built computer and it is the same cable connecting both hard drives

then your drive has to be jumpered master & the friend's drive jumpered slave. that info is printed on the top of the drive. how are they jumpered as appears to be both master?

Take the jumper off, that should turn set the drive to slave mode, see if that works.
