Hi, Just got a Starview 3, The Box Super. How do I tell if I have a genuine or clone? I've looked at http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/663923 and the pics on http://www.freewebs.com/dooby2oon and all looks ok, but i'm not sure how up to date these pictures are? Also, when I press menu then 1570 I get the cas system screen. And in System Information it says, API ver:8.00e_E Boot ver:8.0 20.Jun.2008 So does that mean the box has already been flashed to latest firmware? And finally, what is the Key EMU option for? Thanks for reading,
it's flashes yes. emu is to activate scrambled channels. do you know how to turn emu on?[/quote] Yes thanks found it in the cas menu.
Hi, Ok thanks. Anyone know where I can find out if my Starview 3 is genuine or not? Anyone have a genuine box that they could show me some pics of and what to look for? Any help would be great, new to most of this.
clones are normally cheaper to buy ,and if u buy cheap buyer beware,do a google search for info, and if u buy fleabay check id of seller, and comment received, the more negative comments in feedback.
Got from ebay, he has good feedback, sold 500 odd of items, been registered since 2006, no bad comments for the starview 3 he sells or other boxes i read all the comments. But I still want to make sure before I keep the box. Can only find things on Google about the older Starviews. Any ideas what exactly to search for?
look into the vents and if red paint is on the screws it's a clone. if the back layout is the same as the sv1 (extra output may not be on yours) then it's genuine.
Thanks for the reply. Back is the same as the genuine sv1, 25x7 vents on top, remote is genuine, looking at http://www.freewebs.com/svclones/ Can see nothing red or anything covering the screws, managed to see 3 or 4. Heatsink does not look like one from a clone. Also on the board I can see: STARVIEW REV.A 2008.03.10 with nothing else wrote near it. Can also see at least 2 'QC PASS' stickers if that means anything?
Pic of the back of my Starview3 Only difference I can see on the back from the original Starview1 is: The 'Cable Input' socket is lower, but the box cover still has the part cut out for it being higher. And because it is lower, the screw between the cable input and the cable output socket goes thru the line drawn round the 2 sockets.
