I'm fairly new to this forum but I got some great virus removal help last week on here (thanks to 2oldGeek!) so I thought I'd see about this problem while I'm here...

As the title says, my sata drive keeps disappearing on me. Its my second HDD which I use for storage. It just vanishes at random intervals and is really quite annoying.
Its my drive where I store basically everything so I find I'm constantly rebooting to get it back. Sometimes it takes multiple reboots before its back and sometimes it stays for a while with no problems but then the next day its constantly giving me trouble.

    Here's my hardware:
    HDD: Samsung HD403LJ (400GB/7200RPM/16M)
Motherboard: ASRock VSTA (Can't remember the exact model, sorry)
    CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.20GHz

    ...and I'm running Windows XP.

It has been suggested to me to try replacing the lead that connects it to the motherboard but I haven't had the chance to pick a new one up yet.
Could it be something to do with it not getting enough power? Maybe overheating? ...I find its pretty hot when this happens. Maybe that's normal, I dunno.

Cheers in advance for any help anyone can offer me!

I'd change the S-ATA cable first and see what happens, that's the most likely cause.

Will do. Could you recommend a site online where I could order one?
    Cheers
