Windows won't start after reinstalling

    I reinstalled windows xp on a dell dimension c521 because of a virus and when it restarted it said that it had corrupt files can anyone help on how to fix this problem? thanks

    Anytime you have corrupt files, that's a sign of improper shutdown. You need to run the command "chkdsk c: /f" on your hard drive.

    If your computer won't bootup, you need to make a bartpe bootcd, the bartpe will allow you to boot your computer and use the command line to run the chkdsk command.

    You can also use the windows xp boot cd, but it's more complicated doing that way.
