I've just been hassling with a bad malware/spyware/virus something-or-other that hijacked IE and destroyed about half of my desktop icons and left Windows Explorer without a C: drive showing (though it is obviously still there and working). I thought all the junk came from a file I recently downloaded: children's games! But now I try to burn some .avi files from a previous download in Nero Vision and it accepts the files okay but on the way to accepting them, in the file browser where it lists their details, it shows VIRUS ALERT for each one. I've got about fifteen of them. they are episodes of a tv series. What does this mean? That these files are infected? But AVG and superantispyware don't see it? If I burn them to DVD will the action of burning them be equivalent to 'running' or playing the files and thus release the virus to do its damage? Does anyone know about this strange thing? regards, ab
