I've bought movies that have english subtitles, like 'Pan's Labyrinth', 'The Experiment' (German), 'P' and 'The Eye' (Thailand) etc, but the subtitles don't show up on my laptop. They show up on our stand alone DVD players though.
I've tried playing them with Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player 10 and Winamp. I have the K-Lite Codec Pack, if that makes any difference, and I've tried turning subtitles off, then on, and restarting the media players.

    Any ideas?
    What am I missing?

When I play dvd's in my laptop, I have to 'right click' to turn subtitles on, I also have to click on 'show subtitles' in order for them to be shown. Just wondering if this may help out.

Nah I've already tried that, by right clicking while the movie is playing, and by going to the subtitle menu on the dvd.

Well thanks for the input =]

I suppose I'll just have to put up with watching subtitled DVDs on the standalone.

DVDs that are English as standard, I can put other languages as subtitles on them, even copied ones.

    Anyone else have any idea?
