I have recently subscribed to the basic package of cho"""s MMDS in Cork. They put an aerial on my roof with a single coax going to my tv in my living room. There is a power supply for the aerial behind the tv.

Im just wondering if i wanted to split the connection where would i put the splitter..
1: behind the TV after the power supply?? or
2: up in the attic where the line comes in off the aerial??

Best place is between the TV and power inserter. Recommend using a booster with two outputs, covering the range of 50 to 850 MHz. This will stop signal degradation you may get from a standard splitter.

Apologies Des didnt see you there ;)

    thanks des and scouser!!

would i be better off moving the power adapter up to the attic and then putting in a splitter after the power and running a second cable to my other room?

also what booster would ye recommend?

You want to split the feed at the insertor not in the attic and bring your cable from there. Any powered booster from Maplins or Argos should do so a cheap enough option.

    ok lol thanks.

would it work if i put the inserter up to the attic and then split the cable up there? cause i already have a cable up there goin to the other room so i could just connect it straight to the splitter.

I am just trying to save you the heartache of a bad signal been caused. You are welcome to split the feed in the attic and see how your picture is. Leave the powerinsertor where it is.

But goes against my recommendations ;)

    HI sc0user
Just my pennies worth! I know a man that has 5 feeds coming from the attic and there is no signal issue,he tells me it just saves having cables running across the rooms

MMDS is notorious for bad signals, if you split the feed before the power inserter. You can have quite a few feeds on standard cable without signal degradation. Providing your incoming signal is good, you use good quality cable, e.g. CT 100 and good quality RF connections and splitters.

Five splits is small in comparison to the amount I have :)
