No emails as per forum rules.

I haven't had many compatibility issues on my Vista machine.

    What problems are you having?

Am I missing something? Is there no direct question to this thread? When you say nothing works with Vista could you be more specific and name one of the nothings so that one can at least have the opportunity to help you with that nothing? LOL

I have Vista and I use Norton and Nero with no problems. So like Ddp said what version are you using? And also, do you have SP1 installed?

What software and games are you running on Vista...and are you people stupid or just slow...everything works on Vista, even old "windows 95 only" games work on it...learn how to use A computer folks

Nero 7 and 8 work with Vista, Halo 1 and 2 both work with Vista, norton 2007 works with Vista....whats the problem?

Where is the need for that... poor sod is having all kinds of trouble with fista, now while I think anybody who says it is the best thing ever must be stupid or just slow it is worth coming up with something more positive.

The problem usually is the programs are not being run in administrator mode when they need it.. fista, security method stolen from unix and implemented by a monkey!

And FYI.. 6000 programs are well known (even listed on the M$ information pages) as not working or buggy.

have you tried this update?? http://www.trap17.com/forums/microsoft-fix-incompatible-applications-t47421.html

and the cycle continues.. update..break.. update... break. ad infinitum.....

Sometimes the truth hurts....but seriously I'm to the point where I'm sick of people dogging on Vista when its a really good OS...its just peoples lack of skills and/or ignorance that lead to these so called "vista compatibility issues"

try this website out and look at all the "stupid people out there"

Fav quote "just the bad things I've Heard about vista"...try using it before you judge....

Ah, did you read all the posts before you posted SRH22? Nobody was dogging or judging Vista prior to your comment. Only trying to get to the bottom of the problem. I think your criticism of others here was unjust and uncalled for.

Those commments weren't directed toward them per say...I'm talking about the general dislike and hate for Vista...people complain about how horrible Vista is and they have no idea of how it even works...they just give up and say "oh well, vista is not compatible with my my stuff"

Remember how much people hated Vista when it first came out because of the "UAC" user account control feature...all you gotta do is disable it and restart...but, no people give up because its so different and not what they are used too....got news for you ppl Vista is the same as XP it just looks different and things are in a different place...I've been running Vista Ultimate for about a year now and I love it...it does everything XP does but looks better doing it.

I'm surprised that this thread hasn't been closed. The OP asked no clear question. In fact it seemed more an observation resulting from personal frustrations that he's having with Windows Visa. It came on my laptop which I use mostly for Word processing and Internet uses so I saw no reason to dump it. I have a copy of DVD Shrink on it for quick backups.

I suspect that unless Microsoft introduces a new operating system soon, Vista will eventually surpass XP in installs and ultimately support. We went through a similar transition when Win2k pushed Win98 out of the way, and then along came XP and more drivers' woes. The problem I see is with 32 bit Vista and its resource hungry requirements which are made worse by its 32 bit memory limitations, which in turn makes it a limited and low performing operating system. This in my view suggests that a move toward 64 bit Vista is its best hope, but then that would mean more need for yet more support. A well decked out 64 bit Vista system would probably be an awesome performer, again but for driver and software support.;)

I think the reason why i'm having problems is because i have Vista Basic, (it's so bad that i don't even think they make it any more) and I'm closing down this thred.

Are you logged on as Administrator?

Have you tried running in compatability mode?

    Oh really?
