hey everyone. new to bit torrent and was wondering what is the most relable way to get movie torrents. i went to torrentportal but either they dont work or there is a need for a password. if someone could recommend a goo site or tell me what i am doing wrong i would be very thankful.

Good search site here: http://btjunkie.org/ There are fakes out there that will only download to about 90% so make sure they have completed in the past. Stay clear of those needing a password, too much hassle at the least and use some for of ip blocker like Peer Guardian or SafePeer in Azureus. Not 100% but better than nothing and good, PG has a beta for Vista that works well.

Read up filesharingtalk forums to find out which sites are most in demand right now. They all have different strengths. Some sites are well/fast seeded. Others have 0 day releases. Some have great community atmosphere. Some are highly specialized in particular areas.
The good ones are difficult to sign up cuz they are on invites only.

mininova is arguably the best/largest tracker. read the comments before downloading
isohunt is okay when you cant find stuff on mininova, but usually there are no comment about the quality etc.

I found IPtorrents to be great the only thing is I want certain files but backcats is the only one that seems to have them

Bitsoup is a private tracker, and i have seldom had a problem with their stuff. I like the fact that if your up speeds are slow, you can make a small donation to boost your ratio.

There is one site that has to be the best. I don't want to give it away as they already have great users but lets just say it begins with D and ends with D.

i use u torrent to download but for searching i use a program called omega torrent which is a search engine that covers all major sites like the pirate bay, iso hunt, bt junkie, etc. it saves you bookmarking all the sites and has security to weed out fake or malicious files. you can get it at http://www.freewarefiles.com/ there are other ones available aswell so you can pick one you like yourself.

Yup, probably one of the best private trackers, if you are talking about a site with this MASCOT: :P
The best public sites, however are probably mininova and the pirate bay

Nothing beats D... on speeds, well nothing used to, its because D has had too many probs with the authorities and things like that, otherwise D is easily the best for speed.
D is not fully private, its semi-private you can find their torrents on mininova and stuff anyway.
