    Hi
I am trying to update my Avg Version 8 with no joy. Each time I try to update its saying missing A.bin is missing. As its not working via updates on the interface, I am entering via free.avg.com and its not letting me in. Instead saying IE not display webpage.

I havent read/or seen any comments to indicate that there is any problem with avg. I need to update this missing file. Can anyone please help me with this issue?

why don't you just uninstal the program and do a fresh install? the worst that could happen is it could work right?

Hi, the last couple of days AVG says my e-mail scanner is not active, but it won't activate it.

    Anyone else got this problem?

Thanks to this thread i finally tried out AVG Free on one of my slower machines (that McAfee would just plain kill) and it works very well. I'll only sing it's praises as long as it doesn't let anything thru though :)
..have been using McAfee for quite some years and it's not once let me down.

edit- mine's been updating/working fine for the last few days

It's updating the virus database all right, it's just the email scanner. Which i never had a problem with before.

I have been running Avast for awhile now, so far I am quite pleased with it.

Yeah...that way any left overs get wiped out too. I use Ccleaner...been pretty pleased with it. That way you get a nice, clean uninstall. :)

    Thanks singer

I have downloaded ccleaner and ran it. But i have avast installed now, so i might as well stick with that, or is avg free better?

I have not used Avast. I've been using AVG free for years now and it's always done a great job for me. But, not having used Avast, i can't really offer much of an educated opinion.

Yeah, i've had avg free for years on and off and never had a problem with it.

The only time i ever got a virus was with symantec corporate edition :(

which you would think would be better cos it was paid for, but was really big and slowed down the computer terribly and then let a trojan in.

I'll stick with avast for now i think, see how i get on. Still have avg on the good computer, so i don't really care about this one.

I'm not a Symantec fan either. It was the first thing i removed from my lappy when i got it.

Hopefully Avast works out ok for you!
