DVD Reader with Fast Rip Speeds

    Hi, i am looking to buy a cheap(ish) DVD reader which is capable of Ripping at speeds faster that my current asus (2x). I can nt find the firmware to unlock my Asus to faster ripping speeds so i am no seeking an alternative drive. Does Anyone have any suggestions??

    Liteon LTD-166 works for me..

    Hiya gaz_0001,

    I don't understand why you are having trouble with your ASUS DVD-E616p, as it is an OEM Pioneer DVD-121 clone drive....

    It should be reading WAY faster than 2x...
    Is ASPI installed correctly?
    Is the drive set to UDMA?

    If you need a firmware for it to turn it into a Pioneer drive, look at:

    Hey DR Chips, ive got it reading at 6x now, i found the cracked firmware for it on the net, it now starts at about 1.8x and goes rite up to around 8x!!
