my uncle has a dell computer. yesterday his monitor just went excessively bright green with the sides pushed in. he powered it off and back on. now when powered on the screen comes up too small and green then goes black to warm up then appears the correct size but with green tint and lines from lower left to upper right and the colours weird. then when switched off it goes really bright green as a dot in the middle for a few seconds and fades away.

is there a way to fix it, is the crt wrecked?

It could be the monitor or video card. Do you have another computer that you can try the monitor on?

I would try that first. If it exhibits the same results, then the monitor is going belly up. If not, then it is the video card.

thanks for the help. it's the monitor, anywhere with green is now black and white and you can only slightly see the tint so he'll have to put up with no green until he gets a new monitor.

edit: it must be the green colour element.

steo, rdit your sig to conform to forum specs. yours is 66,757 bytes & 131x136 pixels
    2. An image-only signature should be less than 50kb in size, and be at most 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall.
    4. If you want to use both text and image in your signature the image should not be more than 500 pixels wide and 100 pixels tall, and you can use up to three lines of text.
