    Hello
as the topic says, the cursor in the password field disappears after 2-3 secs after the logon window show up, I have to either manually click the field or alt+tab between 2 instances of "Windows Logon" to enter password, sometime I get to type 3 letters before the cursor disappears.

I'm runing vista ultimate, only one account is active the other admin and guest account are disabled, any help/solution is appreciated.

Odd, I have never heard of this. Try to plug in your mouse into another USB slot right after it happens, if it is USB. Other than that, I have no idea. Try a system restore?

Did you use any sort of activation patch or bypass?

Try a different mouse or try to reinstall your PS/2 drivers. If not that try to ground your motherboard and reseat it in the case. I'm out of ideas.

I would very much like to find the solution to this aswell. You don't by any chance have a dual monitor stup do you, FroZty? I have a feeling it's to do with monitor detection stealing the focus

Also, another thought I had was that it may have been to do with a Windows update. My problem started occuring around the beginning of July but I have reformatted since then so I don't know which updates were installed at that time. If anyone could point me in the direction of the release dates for all the updates that may be useful

I can't do that but if you have a Dual Monitor setup, that may cause the issue. What is your monitor setup and Video card and Vista version (x86 or x64)

My setup is two Hyundai B90D monitors going into an nVidia 8800GTS graphics card via DVI cables. I seem to remember trying it with only one monitor and it was fine which is what made me think it was a dual monitor thing. Also, I think it only happens when resuming from sleep; from a cold boot it is fine. I'll repeat those tests and get back to you though because it's been a while since I did them.

Yeah actually I'm runing dual monitor my setup is: Nvidia 6800XT on Eizo L768 and my TV both on DVI interface aswell, since they can't run on same resolution on both screen so I'm runing a dual veiw mode from the nvidia driver options, the thing is I don't use sleep mode on my comp, but I lock my computer often and it doesn't lose focus when I lock it.

Seeing that its a problem with Dual DVI monitors, I'm thinking it has something to do with dual monitors.

Hi. I have triple monitors on two Nvidia 8800GT cards...

I just tried reverting from the 175.19 drivers to the previous 175.16 package - and so far it seems to have resolved the problem.

I've rebooted three times, and each time the behavior of the logon password box was perfect!

I'll be curious to hear what anyone else's results are when trying this simple fix to our mutual problem.

    Best/jim

p.s. I ran the new beta 177.92 drivers for a week until several days ago -- had the same password focus issue with them -- that's why I went backwards instead of forwards with the drivers :)

Update: while the focus stays on the Password field during an initial startup, it does not however stay in place when resuming from sleep.

    Arggghh!

Ideas or different results anyone? /jim

That's the situation i've been having all along. I tried the older drivers aswell and it didn't make a difference.
