uinstall vista and install xp

    I have a Gateway DX440x duo core processor .Can any anybody tell me how to un instll vista and install xp.I tried to set the bios to boot from cd but could never get it to show up.Vista doesn't work with any of my programs and I hate vista.But I got stuck with it.Help please anybody.Sure would appreciate anybods help.Thanks, JD 730 B

    Just make sure you have all your xp drivers ready to go.

    As far as the bios, choose the cd/dvdrom as your 1st boot device and your hard drive as your 2nd boot device and choose none as 3rd boot device.

    If the computer is still bypassing the cd rom and booting with the hard drive, test your cd on another computer to make sure that it is bootable. Sometimes if they are all scratched up it won't work. Also you can try a different cd rom drive. Some have more power to read a scratched cd.
