Hi guy's, hopefully some of you guy's might have some suggestions or even better a solution to my problem. Basically I'm using an Epson RX585 printer hooked up via usb cable to my main pc and I want to be able to use it to print from my laptop which is networked to my pc. My main pc is running Xp and my laptop is runnning Vista and I can see my shared printer in the Network in my laptop but when I try print from it, it say's "Connecting to XXXXX" and then it say's can't connect "Do you want to install the driver", so I click yes and then it says it can't install the driver. I take it this is because the pc is running Xp and the laptop is running vista. I then downloaded the Epson Rx585 vista driver to my laptop and this is where I have the problem, during set up is says if your running a network printer hit "manual" and from there on in I have no idea. Maybe some of you guy's with printer network knowledge might be able to help me out here. Cheers guy's
Install the driver as if you were going to plug your printer directly into the laptop. This gets the driver available for windows to use.
Hi there mate that's what I thought too. But it doesn't seem to work like that. I tried installing as if I was going to use it via the usb connection and I even hooked it up to my printer and printed off a page with the laptop hook up to the printer via usb so the drivers are definitely on the laptop.... but once again when I try to print from the printer through the network, it say's connecting to the "xxxhhhgdh" printer and comes back "do you want to install the drivers", I say yes, and once again it comes back it can't install the drivers. So... the drivers ARE manually installed on the laptop as I've hooked it up to the printer and have printed off some stuff, but still can't print over the network! Thanks for the reply mate... more suggestions welcome
