External Hard Drive Help....

    I want to purchase an external hard drive but there is so many different brands I'm not sure which one to go with. Any thoughts as to which brands I should stay away from? I need at least 250gb (preferably more, but cost is an issue). Thanks!

    I would get an external enclosure, then put an internal SATA drive in it, and connect it to the computer, instead of getting an external drive.

    Thanks for your advice...I will look into it some more. I am unsure if I would be able to do that or not. It seems confusing. My knowledge of computer hardware is not that advanced.
