Ravenlife, I'm new to this forum and would appreciate all the help I can get. My first question is does installing an iso image using fast loader erase the UMD? 2nd Question, If so, how do you back up the UMD? Final Question: My psp firmware version is 2.81, not 1.50 ... what if anything can I do.

You can't downgrade from simply running the update... it works nothing like that.

What you have to do is use a special "downgrader" to get to 1.50, then upgrade to a custom firmware, 3.40 OE-A or 3.52 M33, as 1.50 is outdated, and so are the programs outlined in this guide.

You can downgrade to 1.50 by upgrading first to 3.50 and using the UMD game Lumines to do the downgrade, search google or afterdawn for "3.50 downgrader" and you will find the right files you need.

My PSP life: (1.00) > 1.50 > 3.03 OE-C > 3.10 OE-A > 3.40 OE-A > 3.71 M33-4 > 3.90 M33-2 > 4.01 M33-2 > 5.00 M33-6

this question seems to get asked a lot but never answered....

my psp is running v 1.5

i am using both UMDEmulator and fastloader and both of these programs recognise the ISO which i have loaded onto my memory stick. However, upon attempting to actually play the game ISO, fastloader just freezes and umdemulator gives me a black screen. The former will let me return to the home screen but the latter requires a reboot. Is this an issue with the ISO itself? Game compatibility? I have tried everything i can think of to get these to run. Incidentally the game is Tiger Woods 08, could it just be this game cannot be run? Any help would be appreciated

That's actually been answered many times, including by me...

The game you are trying to run obviously has a higher UMD update than 1.50 -.- (back track a couple of years and you should start finding games that have 1.50)

The programs you are using only work with games that have a UMD update of 1.50 or below, you'd be wanting DevHook, though, support for that stops at firmware 3.30 (i think, anyway, it's been a rather long time since i've even mentioned it, it might only be 3.03 or 3.10).

The thing for you to do is simply upgrade to custom firmware, it makes the whole thing a lot easier, i'll suggest going to 3.52 M33, then 3.52 M33-4, then 3.71 M33, then 3.71 M33-4 with 1.50 kernel addon v2.

well i did look but that wasnt made completely clear. thank you for the tip though and i apologise for my ignorance.

To clarify, do i need to upgrade to those one at a time gradually progressing through? if so, can you point me in the direction of where to find them and some instructions on how to do it please?

i successfully rolled back my psp from 2.8 to 1.5 but im still not all that confident. thanks

Yes, you have to go through each one, unfortunately.
