Sorry to repost, but I guess this didn't get noticed:
I think I know of a place that will mod the 360 with the firmware hack for me, but I wonder: if M$ does release a firmware update that renders the mod unuseable, would it be possible to just install the old, working firmware again?

prolly, but @ this point no one knows...what MS will prolly do is ban your x360 and gamertag so you can't connect to xbl.

Hi all,
I have burnt a 360 game to a Verbatim Dual Layer DVD using the latest version of CloneCD. The game came as a .000 file along with a .dvd file and the burn completed successfully, but when i try to play the game I get a message saying "To play this disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console" The game apparently was prepatched and is definately multi-region and my 360's FW has been modified successfully. I don't know what I am doing wrong, can anyone help?

I would bet it has to do with the multi_region thing...some games say they are and they're not. I had the similar problem with a couple games and I had to download different files. what game is it?

prey i burned with no problem...sometimes its say's it's a NTSU but can still be a PAL..if you didn't need to use the SS merger than that's probably the problem...or your burner. i have the panasonic burner and use verbatim...maybe your burner.

Yeah maybe... It is a dual layer writer i think it may be an LG, but it isn't branded. The model no. is HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA-4164B, the game is NTSC but I know for sure it definately works on PAL systems. Might upgrade the writer the Pioneer 111d seems popular, you say the panasonic is good?

pioneer is the one of choice..for everyone. i bought mine from best buy for about 120.00 It costs, but it's worth it..it's an external burner though...you can find the same internal burner at best buy for 75.00 and around the web for cheaper. panasonic and the verbatim work hand in hand.

Ok thanks, i'm in the UK and have found the pioneer 111d for only £23 which seems good value so I might buy it and see how it goes. Did I need to use SS merger if the game was prepatched?

nope..no SS merger needed,unless you download different files and then it's needed.

Ok doesn't seem to be anything but the writer then unless i somehow didn't flash the drive FW properly... If it wasn't flashed would it still boot the video clip and message? Im pretty sure its ok though

if it wasn't flashed properly then maybe..it might say that...but i've had games that say the same thing and it was a region problem for me. it's the burner..

Ok, I have even known bought 360 games to give that message, so it seems to be the burner. I will order a pioneer drive and see if it helps.

alrighty....i burned the 1st ever backup i had with great success...especially since it was a prepatched .dvd.
altough...now im stumped. I have G Over Fighter or whatever its called...it just looks cool!
after dling it...i extracted it into a .iso, along with a ss.bin it came with, and a .dvd.
now i read that i have to merger it....so i got 1.5o and even 1.6 with the same problem. Whenever i click YES to find the MD5 or whatever....it either NOT RESPONDING ME or the hour glass comes up after like 10 mintues.
is the hour glass suppose to be on since its like 7gb or what?
and once i somehow get to the next step after merging it into the iso.....do i just burn the .dvd with clone dvd or the iso???
THANKS A BUNCH IN ADVANCED. i really appreciate it!

also forgot to mention....after the 10 minutes of hourglass time....an error comes up saying ERROR CANNOT CONNECT TO DATABASE. TIMEOUT.

@ACUBSFAN---try using merger 1.6 if you get that message..i got that message using 1.5 but never 1.6...and there was something else I did to circumvent that, but I don't remember. you burn the dvd image with clone cd and that's it...you're done. the merger can sometimes take a while and seem unresponsive, so just wait till it's done doing whatever it does.

yay it went through...thans! now im confused. it says 2 iso setting found after i did md5...is that ok?
then i got the required md5 but the one that came with the game doesnt match.
when i checked the link for the ss settings..there are 2 diff ones...
should i get the other one or what do i do??

cubsfan..sometimes they don't match but still work...it's the damdest thing..try the one with the green files and the ones that dont match...i've done it without that and it still works...it varies...keep trying different combinations. it doesn't always have to match.
