f:/ISO/ folder .... you are dropping just the .iso in f:/iso correct?
have you tried 2.71 instead of 2.5 ?

So I followed the directions, installed the 2.6 and 2.71 firmware... a number of times. The system still won't reboot to 2.6 or 2.71. The system ends up just turning off. Got any ideas on what to do?

Mine is a downgraded 1.5.

do we need to download eloader, if the psp is currently 1.5. If that is so, then that would elimate the chance of bricking it.

Hey Raven, great tool you got there.

I just dled NBA Live 07 and when I extracted it it was 1.515 GB and when I compress it with UMDGEN it only becomes 1.40 GB, unfortunately I have a 1gb memory stick so yea..

I just wanted to know if I keep compressing the compressed files will they become smaller and smaller? ( stupid question I know but I couldn't resist :P)

Also could you suggest some games which oculd compress enough to be played on my 1gb AKA 949 MB Memory stick?

Thank you Very Much,
~ VK

Thanks for the prog,

I just want to know whether I will be able to play CSO's on my PSP and if I can play will the method be different than loading an ISO.

Thank You.

just a quickie - followed the guide - everything seems in place - plopped in the 2.0 and 2.5 eboot jobbies. about the umd disc that needs to be inserted - does it have to be a game? - all i got is a spiderboy 2 movie disk.?? also because devhook 0.46 seems to emulate 2.6 and 2.71 - does that mean i have to plop in these bad boy eboots too using the devhook firmware installer?

For the guy trying to compress the nba game. Open the image with umdgen and delete the update folder in psp game>sys dir. Then delete both the .pad files in user dir. Also delete all none essential videos and music tracks, Leave one music track on and it will relink it to that. Still may only get it to 900 meg ish, But small enough to go on your 1 meg stick. Edit - 1 gig stick oops

Hi All,

Great thread, has been great to read through and learn heaps....but J

I still have a few concerns/questions.

My PSP is an original 1.5 Firmware, I think; it doesn't have a sticker in the UMD tray. I have loaded 3 games so far with it, Star wars Battlefront II, pacman 3, Madden 06. Plus doom 1 and 2.

All loaded Using Dev hooks 0.22. Pacman 3 comes up with an error saying it can't find the world data or something like that....seems to play ok after that but might crash after 1st level for all I know.

Others don't work or freeze etc, but that is I think because I'm not using dev hooks correctly...

As my PSP loads games etc already I assume I don't need to any of the things at the start of RavenLife's guide???

IE - Upgrading to 2,6 then downgrading to 1.5, installing eloaders, Installing the firmware Files for devhook etc.

If I use the latest Dev Hooks, like some posts say, and I tell it to change to say 2.6 FW and it then reboots...will that change my 1.5 FW permanently???

Last time I used DH to change my FW it made my language Spanish....and it took me ages to get it back J but I think it made the FW higher too, but I reset the factory settings and it seems to be back to 1.5....is that correct??? So I might have answered my own question there but would like it confirmed by you experts :)

So if that is correct then that's all I need to do to use most games, newer DH and play around with the firmware version etc.

With most people saying that make the firmware 2.71 when loading games does that mean use dev hooks to change the FW to that from 1.5???? which worries me that I won't be able to get back to 1.5....:) If it's safe to do and it only needs a restart of the PSP then thats' fine....just don't want to upgreade my PSP if i don't need to etc.

Do all the iso's go in the dir ISO ???

What about movies etc??? where do I place them to be able to play...and do they need to be a special format.......

Well I think that all for now...

Oh yeah...should i use the DevHook v0.45 Ultimate Installer ??? will that make any changes to my 1.5 FW???

Cheers all

Thanks for a great site!!!!
