Sorry another newbie to your site from Dublin i have also got a starview box and when i scan i get 175 channels but when i try to view i get a message bad channel or scrambled i have a doller symbol at the side does this mean it is locked or what any help is greatful

GOTO PARENTAL CONTROL
PRESS THE I OR ONFO BUTTON
PRESS 2 0 0 4
TURN E.M.U. ON AND EXIT ALL THE WAY OUT AND GO TO A SCRAMBLED CHANNEL AND IT WILL UPDATE IN LESS THAN 30 SECONDS

HELP!!! just got a starview box also, but get the same message as above users 'scrambled or bad channel' but when I go to the menu as suggested I don't have an option for parental control just picture, sound. features and install?
Would be very grateful if anyone can help

Ok, now I see parental control, followed the steps posted above, it starts to update goes to 200% flicks briefly to a blank locked sky sports screen and then starts updating again and continues on in that loop over and over again!
Sorry new to this site, grateful for any help/comments!

hi tracy,
wot your explaining is when your box needs updating?,but i havent herd of any other peeps having problems?.wot version r u running,...
have you tried a factory reset...rescan,..and then turn your emu on,
you may need to relash your box,..try the basics first,..if all fails reflash with the 257,..best running image in my opinion

hey tuohy,sorry im new to this,heres my story i bought my star view the other day and it wouldn't decode any channels,all that came up was a doller sign,so i downloaded the 257 bin file,connected to my computer and downloaded,now the starview doesn't even start up all,that shows is four flashing lights across the channel display,i've tried turning off,downloading again,and nothing im at a loss here,if you can help,mucho gracias!

hi call paul,
shame you did all that,..all you needed to do was turn your emu on,
the dollor sign ment you had all the channels,they just wanted descrambling,..anyway 4 dashes usally means when you flashed the bin file,you disconnected before download was complete,..you must wait till on appears after flashing is complete before disconnecting,..
try flashing again,but you must wait till on appears

just thought of somthing,..may sound stupid,but check that your on of switch at the rear of your box is on,happened to me once when i flashed the box,plug in got 4 dashes,forgot to turn the switch on at the back,..lol
