Hi. I have a number of questions.

I currently have a Happauge wintv 1600 That I record HD with. I have zero problems with this. The recording is easy and efficient.

It comes with nanopeg edit. That program seems to be fine for cutting out commercials if you can get a mpeg2 plugin. Right Now I can not get that program to work because it uses the mpeg 2 plugin for windows media player. I have wmplayer 11. I have installed every mpeg2 codec known to man and it still doesnt work. I just built a new computer with the idea that I could cut the commercials and re-encode the file and then compress and burn to dvd. My older computer could not handle the file it records in.

So my first question is can anyone help me get the right mpeg2 codec to work. Again, for nanopeg editor to work the windows media player must be able to view the file also. Any help would be appreciated. I have never had an issue make me crazier.

So here is my second question. Something I recorded on my pc yesterday came out bad, only because of something interfering with my antenna. That never usually happens but it did so the file is really no good.

Now I also recorded it on my directv HD dvr. So what I want to know is can I find a capture device that allows me to just plug in from my component out jacks and record in HD?

I know this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815116030 Seems to do that. Can anyone confirm this?

What I am saying is. If I have that, can I simply plug in from component, turn on the dvr, go into the listing, select my recorded show and then capture in HD?

If that is the case I will buy that. I just want to know that is what it does for sure, I dont care about watching satellite tv on my computer, just recording previously saved stuff to my pc in HD.

I used to do this with my standard dvr into a pinnacle studio capture device. I assume the process is the same.

Sorry for all questions. Really if I could just get the mpeg2 codec to work I would be happy. Its driving me crazy.

Thanks in advance to anyone who reads all this and special thanks to anyone who helps!

    Todd
