Hi, I'm living in East Cork and have set up an MMDS antenna on my roof. When I connect my signal directly to my TV I get a few channels (sky1, sky news etc.), but when I connect it to my The Box T no channels/signal show up Is it possible that East Cork is an Analogue only area? I only have a DVB-T receiver. Is it possible that the signal requires a DVB-C receiver. As it is MMDS I had assumed that it would require DVB-T. Lastly, is it possible that my (very) old antenna is not capable of picking up a digital signal? Any advice would be great - I'm completely lost!
Can anyone confirm that analogue has been switched off in Cork? I have my doubts. When I plug my MMDS feed directly into the back of my tv (using no receiver) I am picking up sky 1, sky news, utv and a few more. I assume these have to be from ch0ru$?
have a look here .. http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055281569&highlight=cork+analogue+switch
Thats very interesting, thanks. However, they seem to be discussing Chorus Cable in Cork. As far as I know Chorus MMDS in Cork still carries some analogue stations. Chorus wish to free up bandwidth on cable in order to provide broadband. This is not the case on MMDS. But for a moment lets suppose there is no analogue signal. Would anyone have any idea where sky news and sky one are coming from. When I plug out the antenna power supply the channels disappear. So they are being picked up through a powered MMDS downconverter. I'm puzzled - any ideas anyone?
