Hey everyone, thanks in advance for your help/advice.

Right now i have case of the Vista Blues. I have an Acer Aspire 6920 laptop running vista sp1 and for some reason applications will just quit responding. Some of these programs include windows explorer, opera, firefox, and microsoft word 2007.

I've been using windows operating systems for years and have never had a problem like this (but i do prefer linux OS). I'm sure this is not a case of hardware overload, this laptop has 1.83 dual-core cpu and 3gb ram so it is not slow by any means. Sometimes when it quits responding it only does it sor a minute or so, and other times i have to manually shutdown to fix it.

    Thanks again!

I would do a scandisk on all your partitions. If you have corrupted files it will cause the computer to hang. Also make sure you don't have any media cards connected to any of the card slots.

And finally if you have any antispyware programs running in the background, that will definitely slow down your computer because it will need to analyze everytime anything is written to the hard drive.
