Many thanks to all the fine contributors on this forum, especially Odin and Ryu. I'm able to rip streams directly from the blu-ray structure and split them to fit on bd-re 25's.I am finally able to burn avchd iso's that work great on my standalone. the last barrier I have been struggling with is converting all these mkv's to blu ray compliant formats. I sucessfully re-encoded my first mkv last night using ripbot on single pass CQ 18. Picture quality seems good but I only checked it briefly. Was an 8 gig file and took my poor old comp 2 days to do. PQ is important to me and I would like some opinions on quality when re-encoding using these two methods. Does using Ryu's profile with megui make a better movie? Using 2 pass is going to take my current systems a LONG time to complete and I was hoping to cut a few corners here. Thanks for your time.

Both Ripbot and MeGui are control centers for and obtain their results from the same applications such as TsMuxer. Ripbot is a little easier to use and more to the point, but MeGui offers more user options as to how to manipulate the outcome. Perhaps you can answer your own question. Both of them obtain excellent results.
