Xbox 360 outselling PS3 two-to-one, says Microsoft

Microsoft has made a statement saying that since they cut the price across the board for their Xbox 360 console, the system has been outselling its rival, the Sony PlayStation 3, by a two-to-one ratio.
Figures from Chart Track seem to back up that statement, saying sale are up 215 percent since the price cut was announced in Europe.

Not surprised.
PS3 has failed heinously in comparison to the other two. A new game called Baja {something} was reviewed by gamespot and gave a good rating for XBox but not PS3. Bad graphics, VERY bad for PS3 in comparison.

With the slim-pickings for exclusive titles the choice to buy an xbox 360 or PS3 becomes easier. Then it becomes more of a price issue.

I own both xbox 360 and ps3, and to be honest i rarely turn ps3 on. Everytime a game comes out i usually buy it for xbox, mainly because i like the controller a little better but because frankly its easier to play with friendso n that since the online is better and 3 or 4 of my friends have an xbox to play online with as opposed to 1 with a ps3. Sony needs to face it...the blu ray isnt going change peopls mind when they can buy an xbox for $250 compaired to $400 for ps3. Playstation really needs to get some exclusive titles on shelves to move systems like MGS4 did when it came out. The news of final fantasy going to xbox also hurt sony in a large way.

If anything its Xbox that's failing with its good low price, and large selection of "good" games, and its 1 yr head start to be like a mere 5 million ahead in console sales against PS3.

This is every bit as pointless as the constant sony FUD, when will the ever learn that kids do not read the news and adults are more intelligent in the UK than the indoctrinated US bunch.

I agree with you. I own a Wii and Xbox360 only but i did get to play my cousins PS3 for about a week and he had MGS4. Honestly he left his xbox360 with his 2 younger brothers when he enlisted into the airforce and after basic training he bought a PS3 just b/c he already owned a Xbox360. It was funny to hear him say that he wasnot too impressed with the PS3 mainly due to the library of games and he really missed his Xbox360. Xbox360 is the better deal of the 2 consoles. Lower price, more games, and exclusives. And lets remember, just b/c a few people have been able to play some of those exclusives on PC in the past doesnot mean you will be able to continue doing so.
Gears of War 2 will not be released on PC.....and i think we will see this trend more in releases in the future.

I own a 360 and PS3 and lemme tell you my PS3 collects dust. Anyways, the only good thing about the PS3 is it's streaming capabilities which is AMAZING, the built in wireless card that the PS3 has makes it stand out allot from the Xbox 360, because most people like myself don't have a wireless dongle for the 360 so you gotta connect it using an ethernet cable. Other than that the PS3 is really useless to me, the online sucks cuz most people don't have a blu-tooth mic, laggy online, no type of communication with teammates, and not many games for the PS3 stand out from its competitors ( I would continue but I already typed too much). So I'm happy to hear that the 360 is selling well cuz a good console needs to be supported.

No price is worth a defective console.I want to buy one but i can't do it plus Microsoft has done nothing but patch the RROD issue & down played the issue to what going to happen to buyers when there warranty runs out? I wouldn't be surprise they bring out a new console around the same time alot of people warranty's run out so that mean alot of buyers will be SOL.

i hated the original xbox
never thought id buy two xbox 360's
one for me and my kid,my mate has both ps3 and xbox 360 and
his ps3 has only been used for the first month and he never used it since.thick with dust on its shiny black surface..
says the games are just too dear to buy for ps3
you can buy the same game for 360 for £10 less as new
then you have second hand games for xbox from £12 for good titles
same game for ps3 at least double

Theres an explanation of the figures too.. The kids who have a wii are growing up and want more FPS and violence games.. As times are hard the ps3 is still out of reach of most average pay packets (have you lived in 30% inflation?.. it sucks) so parents are buying the not very expensive 360 as a replacement, knowing it can usually be hacked saving them the cost of full priced new games... and keeping the wii (and all the other backstreet games) for themselves ;)
Sometimes the parents perspective is overlooked by the rabid fanboys.. We don't care how good a console is.. bottom line is what we can afford for our spoiled brats, and if they don't like it they get zilch next year.. hehehehe

Dddduuuuuueeeeee....parents don;t know a thing about modding.... its the price...just the price...and wealth of cheap used titles!

You don't know how many people bring me brand new unopened 360 boxes to get them flashed.. so they can download and burn themselves.
Most parents are pretty computer literate when it comes to downloading and burning.. at least locally.. having started in the ps1 days like me ;) They do it all the time for their kids with music cd's and a 360 game isn't much different in reality.
What age do you think most parents of 12-14 yo kids are? Younger than me that's for sure :)

Well, I myself was deciding on either console during the time of the RRoD. I bought a PS3 in February 08 because a December 07 "fix" wasn't set in stone. In fact, they are now hoping that the new Jasper model will "reduce" the RRoD. We're rounding the bend into 2009 and they are still trying to fix problems with the hardware? I don't care how cheap the 360 is now. Doesn't mean I will buy it. Not to downplay how beneficial a price drop is and that it is a smart move by MS. But I agree with NextGen76. I dislike many things about both Sony and MS, but I already picked my poison and I dislike MS more from a manufacturing and marketing standpoint.
Is there a master list somewhere of all the 360 exclusives? And by exsclusive, I mean not released on a PC. Because all of a sudden people are making statements that the XBOX has a ton of exclusives worth getting. Last I checked (and it was a brief comparison) both console game catalogs were the same with the exception of a few (not counting the games released the during the year head start MS had).

A few JP RPGs are 360 exclusive, alot of shooters and such are 360 exclusive, lets just say it has enough exclusives to be worth half the asking price like the PS3.

i will just say this,
i have 2 ps3's a 60gb (EU release date) and a 40gb (for 6months or so) and up to this day i havent paid a cent more for both of them except the purchase price.
Who has a green box and havent spend money at least to 1 peripheral?
So if you ask from sony to lower the price as MS did.... i say that you should better say that you want a PS3 without a BD drive, HDD, free Network play,Blutouth, rechargeable build in controllers, Motion sensitive controllers, and not that much of CPU power.....Plus 30% failure rate....head or tales......

I Disagree the Falcon chip didn't fix or help the issue with RROD.Until i know MS is selling me a defective free console they will not get my money.This is the only thing holding me back from getting one.Gears Of War 2 look sick & i want to play that game alone with the first one really bad but i can't do it.I hope this Jasper chip is the fix like they claim because the Falcon chip wasn't,until then i will wait.
