I have tried installing vista on my computer with 3 different versions of the cd and no success so far. I know there is nothing wrong with the cds because I have used the on my other computer with no problems. When ever I start the install it takes forever to get going, and takes atleast 25 mins just to expand the files after copying. But it does finally get finished installing, it just will not load afterwards. The windows loading window comes up and shortly after it goes away the screen starts to blink different color pixels everywhere and just turns black. The only thing I have come across on the net so far that could be my problem is memory timing but I have no idea how to set the timing even if I can there are no options in my bios. I ran the memory checker on cd and it said everything was fine. The computer I'm trying to install it on is a:

    compaq sr1103wm
    celeron 2.53ghz
1 gb ram pc 3200 400mhz (Mine calls for pc 2700 but this is supposed to be compatible)
    120 gb hd.
    nvidia 6200 oc

I also upgraded my mb bios before installing and ran vista upgrade advisor and it said it was ready. If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it, thanks.

Nevermind I finally figured it out, I was installing windows vista black 2009 I got it off of the net and it works and looks great. But I believe the problem I was having is it installed a boot loader that possibly registers it somehow or stops it from checking don't know. Anyhow the only thing I had to do was go to the repair sceen in the windows startup cd and click on command prompt and execute bootrec.exe /fixmbr and bootrec.exe /fixboot from command prompt and everything works great now. Hope this could help someone from going through what I did.
