Lately when Im burning A new release 3/4 of the movie is good the last 1/4 is jumpy or freezes. I didnt know if they did something to the movies now as far as coding them at the end. I thought it could be my player. I have a cheap magnavox recorder.
What programs are you using to rip the movies? What programs are you using to burn? What brand disks are you using? What speed are you burning at? We need more information if you want some help.
most likely its a poor quality media problem and or burn speed. Use Taiyo Yuden,Verbatim or Sony burning at 6x to 8x max
ZoSoIV to the rescue again! His advice is worthy of listening to! there are plenty of reasons why certain media brands won't play in other players properly. To avoide pixelations, freezing and skipping or a disk that just can't be read by your player, follow these instructions: 1. burning speeds: burn at 4x so there will be less writing errors (rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disk--8X disk burn at 4x). 2. read manual for your stand alone player and use the disks that will play in your player. If your player is less than 2 yrs old then it should play the + or - R disks! I said SHOULD that's why you read the manual. 3. try booktyping your drive to DVd-ROM so it will make your +R disks more compatible to players. Read this: http://k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php 4. make sure that there are no finger prints or scratches on your disk that make it hard for the player to read the disk! *******5. use good quality media (rule of thumb....buy the ones that are Made in Japan.)Taiyo Yuden is the only brand I use! Verbatim is also top notch disk and is the only exception to this rule....some Verbatims are made in Taiwan and they are top notch! Using quality media that is most recognized by players/recorders stop MANY problems like the ones you are getting! 6. and don't burn too close to the outer edge of the disk ..... which will make the disk unreadable! but using good media you will be able to burn close to the edge better than lesser quality media. Really do not get on here much, but I am having the same problem. Well, mine is more just pixelating at times. When it would do it more at the end or completely freeze, I realized it was too close to the edge. However, it will still do it at times during the movie. I had Sony and Phillips discs, now have TDK DVD+R 1-16x 4.7GB. I use AnyDvd and DvdClone. I have a Plextor PX740UF burner. I burn on the Clone setting of 2-4x all the time. I'm going to try some other people's players, but I know for sure one of my problems is the player itself. My cheapy COBY I got free(new) is outright horrible for anything other than OEM movies and the cheapy Magnavox the gf has does it once in awhile during a movie. BTW-out of place, but why do I not see a separate AnyDvd forum when it was so highly promoted before?
Your problems are more than likely due to your media. Of what you've listed the Sony's are probably the best of the bunch, but I wouldn't recommend anything other than Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. Your el cheapo player may be the culprit, but the cheaper units are usually your better players as far as playing anything you throw at them.
Definitely going to look into Taiyo Yuden media, but as for the el cheapo player and the bitsetting....do you think I should try that or just let it be? Also, if I do the bitsetting, which seems to allow older players and Playstation to read it better, will it effect playback on newer models then? Thanks fo rhte help.
bitsetting/booktyping is using the inner hub of a +R(w) to make the disk as a DVD-ROM, which will fool players into reading the disk as a store bought DVD. So you can do this as in the link above in my other reply. I would see if my burner can be set to booktyping and using good media together makes the difference between ANY player reading your disk or not! So do both! If you can. Some burners can't be booktyped. good luck!
ImgBurn is the newer version of decryptor, right? So, I can delete DVDD? OK, going into ImgBurn and doing as IHOE showed, I selected "Drive(for dvd+r media)" but it says unknown failed beolw that and wont let me select a new setting......
I have a blank disc in. Also, when I pick on DVD shrink what I want to burn with, it says ISO with ImgBurn, but I assume thats actually DVDD. I use Anydvd and clonedvd2 anyway, but I wanted to try Shrink some more. Just wanted to figure out the bitsetting for more compatibility. If I can't get it to work with ImgBurn, is there a way to do so with Any/Clone?
try it with a blank +R disk in your drive...... this picture shows that I am changing my Samsung drive to booktype to DVD-ROM.
you can't booktype with clonedvd however you can booktype with imgburn then open clonedvd and burn to file and it will booktype that way
I have an ISO file on my laptop that DVDD put there, I just copied it to the DVD. I put another blank in to try to set the booktype, but I still get: Unknown (Failed!) Reason:Invalid Command Operation Code "new setting" and "change" are grayed out.
