    hi i have a strange problem with my little brothers computer. when we play call of duty 4 over LAN his computer will crash after about 15 mins of game play. do you think this could be a problem with the windows install because i cant seam to get it stable, and also i use the same windows disc to install as i do on my own system. so i dont think it could be the a problem with disc. but could there be a problem with drivers or something would you recermend that i update all his drivers. (ie Motherboard, Graphics Card etc) i just cant figure this thing out it driving me crazy any help will be welcome with open arms.

    thanks

    it doesn't hurt....reinstall your game one of those pesky .dll or .ock files might be going a little AWAL...

    it freezes 15 minutes in then?

    since its a custom computer we can't overrule hardware failure or overheating right away,
    http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=103
    run a hardware test let it burn-in over night

    overheating
    http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
    if your cpu/gpu was overheating you'd probably see some really weird pigmentation of the screen as the game crashed, the game would get jittery and the sound would get funky...but if you don't already watching the temps isn't a terrible idea:p

    my BF2 was crashing about 8 minutes or sometime 30 minutes into the game every now and then, i updated the drives and problem solved:D

    although games don't usually crash when they lose key packets they can and sometimes do, since your playing over the net your internet connection maybe at fault...are you using on board or a pci err something Ethernet card? if you have another hanging around it doesn't hurt to switch it out:D

    sometimes games crash because their flawed/don't sync with your hardware just right (since your pc is custom this is more often the case, google searches in order??)

    maybe look on the infinity website for know problem as well?

    best of luck mate!

    Hi and thanks for replying m8

    i am going to prime95 overnight and then i will let you know about what happens and then i will switch out net card in the pc, because i am using the onboard net card.

    if all goings will tonigt with prime will try update the driver for the pc. if that dose not work will get back to you.

    thanks

    ok so i used prime95 and it has not gone very well lol. the computer has carshed 3 hours and 29mins in to the test so i am starting to think that there is somthing wrong with the hardware now. do you think we could put this down to

    A: bad hdd
    B: power supply
    C: graphics card

    and the temps were

    motherboard 25C
    cpu 39C
    gpu 39C
    hdd 31C

    WHY CANT JUST WORK LIKE MINE DOSE LOL.

    More likely to be something grabbing your network hardware.. antivirus?

    ok now i think the problem was onboard ethernet because now that i am using pci ethernet card it works mint. Played Call of duty 4 over the LAN for just under 5 hours and not a problem. also i had to disable the windows firewall on both pcs or he could not see the server i made. Still going to run prime 95 overnight and will see what happends.

    thanks

    @tripplite
    do you think MCP @61C is high for non sli chipset.

    @varnull
    you give me the idea for disable the firewall.
