I just started using torrents with utorrent. I use nero to burn. The files burn to disk some play on my DVD and others will not. They all playback on my computer. I use Sony DVD-r disk. The torrents are AXXos all good torrents. When I put the DVD in my player they won't start. One says disk error. Any suggestions on why this is happening? Thanks
You need to use a program that will convert them to DVD format and burn them to DVD. Just copying the movie file to the DVD won't work. I use Sonic MyDVD to convert files to DVD format and to burn DVDs.
First, I would try using DVD Flick for the conversion - and also opt to allow it to burn the disk (it uses Imgburn - part of the installation). If it still plays on the PC, but won't on the standalone, then you might want to look closer at the disk type (whether +R or -R) or perhaps the brand you use. 'Verbatim' is considered a consistently reliable brand - also note that burning speed should be no more than half the rated value shown on the pack, or 4x. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_flick.cfm
ok I'll try it. Like I said I,m a newbie here. The movies I have burned that have come from using utorrent will not play in my DVD player 2 out of 7 did. They will not play in my Windows Media player but will play in Power DVD. All of the movies I have burned before using utorrent that came from using limewire ( no torrents) all play back and all the movies are on Sony DVD-r. I burn with Nero Vision and I set the burn speed at 6x always the lowest burn speed.
Attar DVDV Flick worked. The movie plays on my DVD player. I'll try some more. Thanks again for your help. Aftedawn forum is great!!
The real test is, 'does a file that fails in Nero, work ok with DVD Flick'. If there is a consistent pattern between the two, you should try and figure out where the problem lies. You can convert the file with Nero, save it to a folder and run 'Imgburn' (part of the DVD Flick Installation) to burn the folder to the disk. If the disk is ok, then you know that the problem is in the burning stage in Nero. To prove it, you can have DVD Flick convert the file and use 'Nero Express' to burn the output folder to disk.
Will need a little help here. When I am in nero at burn options do I select write to hard disk folder. When finished do i then select the file then burn with imgburn.
Yes, opt to save the Nero output to the hard disk instead of burning to DVD. To run Imgburn, locate it's folder C:\program files\dvd flick\imgburn Open the folder and either run it or create a desktop shortcut. From the Wizard, choose 'write files/folders to disk' and choose the 'VIDEO_TS' folder form the Nero output..set a burn speed and click the green button.
