ok, first off before i got into my needs and wants i want to say that i didnt know where to post this so i decided to do so here.
alright then, to my "problem" as one can referr to it as.

so im learning java, i bought a book called "Head First Java" and it teaches java 5.0.
im about 1/4 of the way through the book, i've learned a whole bunch of stuff and i can code simple things for now.
Im sure i will learn much more when i get to more of the book but there are things i want answers for right now, instead of waiting to find out if they're included in the book or not. (and if anyone knows full java and is willing to help whenever i have a problem or a need, please let me know)
ok so first of all (this is not directly related to java)i want to know what graphics creating programs, are good to use to create objects (not java objects) like trees and houses and charecters and stuff
and i want to know how to display these graphics, what program displays them
and i want to know how to apply the java code to these graphics to create simple games.
my goal is to, ultimately, be able to create a game environment where a charecter can, perhaps, walk around and do things.
but for now im going to focus more on simple games to get some experience in the area.
so to recap what i said, i need a program that creates graphics can be used with java code.
and i need a program to will display these graphics and let me apply the java code to them.
(if anyone wants an example of a game that has insipired me, you can check out runescape.com and make a user account really quick just to check out how the game plays)

Thanks in advance to all those who will help out!
