If this newy is going to be a gameing machine, then go for the higher cpu and a 512mb vid card. Games are coming out more power hungry, best to have a little more than not enough. If you have any cash left over, then increase the system RAM also if the mobo allows.
    Hey..it's only money. :)

ive got the basic idea about the system running it but one question more

gears of war 2.0ghz amd or 2.4ghz intel
now im getting a 2.0ghz dual core is that good enough
im thinking since its dual core it should work even tho its under what is recomended for intel

i will be running windows vista Ultimate

I'd go with the 2.4 to be safe, and it depends on the resolution you're playing at. Higher around 1680x1050 will need a pretty powerful card, lower around 1024x768 will play mostly off the cpu,. Also check the bus speed of the cpu 1333mhz for games in my opinion. Hope i helped.

I don't care all that much about resolution as long as it's playable at at least 1024 x 768 and the main reson I am asking about the 2ghz I just can't afford the extra $300 or so for higher end one so I shoul refease it

Is gears at least playable at 2ghz dual core at minimum of 1024 x 768 res without much lag

I'm ugradeimg from the intel gma 950 so I don't care about quality all that much

But I guess I will figure out if it does run since i already own gears and bought it for my other computer but I didn't work on that video card

I did a lot of research about 2-3 months ago when buying my laptop, and can safely say that the card in the laptop you want (9400M GS/GT) is a low-end graphics card.

Sure, it beats the intel integrated chips, but still it will have trouble running games at a decent res.

I would recommend looking for a laptop with a mid range card like the nVidia 8600M GT (DDR3)/ or the 9500M GS, or a 9600M GT (if you can fit it in your budget) as these are quite a bit better, especially the 9600

The best would be a high end card like a 9700/9800M GT/GTX, but most people can't afford those (myself included ;( )

    Hope this helps

I belive your somewhat mistaken about the 9400m it's actualy can run gears I just got my computer last week and it runs gear or war at high with only little lag but that's cause min is 2.4 I got 2

You maybe right but I am so used to the gma 950that it just seems great

Thanks for all the responses people but I got my new computer and answered my question

I can run it at 1280-800 at high but it runs reaobable but not the best so I play it at 1024-784 on medium it adds performance and doesn't look much differant
