I tried to rip a DVD with Decrypter and to play on an ipod but it gave me a few errors and locked up. I had to exit with task manager. I realized afterwards I needed to turn off file splitting. So I intended to change some settings but now when I open up the program it automatically starts the conversion and I get the same error. I don't click the start conversion button. I tried a different DVD and was able to rip fine it fine but when I try to rip the first DVD it automatically starts the conversion again and am unable to change the settings I want. How can I stop the conversion.

Take the disc out and delete the folder. Uninstall Decrypter. It's "old hat". Install DVDFab Decrypter.

DvdFab Platinum (free trial period) has a mobile option that makes it easy to rip for ipods, zune, etc.

Since Dvd Decrypter is no longer updated, use DvdFab Hd Decrypter (freeware version) to rip. Dvd Shrink for any compression, and Imgburn to burn. Imgburn is kind of like the updated burn engine from Decrypter.
