I have bought two of my children the DS Fire Cards and not had any problem with them at all in general. However lately I am experiencing errors where the save (.sav) file cannot be found and wont boot up. I dont know whether this is due to the file d/loaded or the card not recognising some newer games? Have googled a bit and dont think its a firmware issue as upto date. Anyway my youngest is having a DS for christmas and am going to buy another card - but if there is a better product out there will buy that instead if its a similar price. I notice some DS Firecards state on the website moonshell included and others dont mention it. Is that important? Many Thanks
moonshell is use mainly for media player, such as mp3 and movies. yes there are better flash card out there, such as Acekards, CycloDS, Edge DS, Supercard dsOne. goto www.gbatemp.net for full reviews.
If you need Wii connectivity, then CycloDS (not personally confirmed) or G6Real (confirmed) are (AFAIK) your only options. I have not seen or read any positive confirmation that any of the other vendors have or are planning to address this issue. If you don't care about Wii connectivity, there are several options available.
Hi Thanks for the responses, the only reason I think we went for the firecard was the kids who are aged under 6 have a habit of losing small parts ie Micro SD cards...! Still will have a look at those reviews thanks a lot **Just read reviews and am toying with the CycloDS... probably wont use half of the features but I like the fact it has onboard memory as well as the slot for the Micro SD card. The RPG card is pretty pricey isnt it, and not keen on the R4.
hmm , your probaly going to have to get a micro sd slot cartridge. DSTT is cheap and the simplistic one i've found.
ive used R4, M3,Edge, DSTT and CycloDS Evolution. and cyclo is def the way to go. I am very impressed with the cyclo over all the cards ive used. The other cards I have were always giving me some type of problems, maybe it was just bad luck and all of them were defective -_- but I strongly recommend CycloDS Evolution to you, you will not be disappointed.
Hi DDRgod922, I'm just about to replace my M3 simply, and get a few others for family. I liked the look of the edge card so far, but you mentioned you had a few problems with it? Can you expand a bit please, or say what it was that convinced you that CycloDS Evolution please? Thanks
Out of curiosity, why are you replacing your M3? I have an M3 Simply and have yet to experience a problem with it.
with edge, my save files kept getting corrupted and the m3 wouldnt read my sdhc card =\ i have had the absolute worst luck with this -_- lol
DSTT has terrible sdhc support, all my micro sd cards work fine on it exceot my 8GB sdhc. It triples the load time and scrolling through the game list lags terribly. so if u plan on using 2gb+ of games or going to be using alot of space for music/videos then i would steer clear of DSTT, unless they fixed that issue.
Seem to have lots of problems with it lately. Lots of "please re-insert card" and every time you shut the lid, it won't come out of sleep mode. I have all the latest firmware and everything. Although that doesn't seem to be updated as often as it used to
trust me you will not be disappointed. I know there is a huge price difference on the average slot-1 card around but personally I feel like I have gotten my bang for my buck for going with cycloDS
I've heard of that issue with the card not being recognized. Haven't had it myself yet, crossing fingers that I don't get it. I've noticed that the firmware has tapered off though. Aren't there third party firmwares for the M3 Simply that are supposed to be better than the officially released stuff?
Well did a bit of research last week and was all set to buy one of the EDGE cards as it had a decent review on that website (arguably better than the CYCLONE if you weighed up the pros and cons).... but now undeciced again. Interestingly the fault that was occuring with the SAV files I have found a cheat for using a programme called DSLAZY but as buying another one may as well buy one which works without using another programme. Hmm decisions decisions!
That sounds like the ARM7 fix that some games need. I think (although I'm not sure) that all cards need certain fixes this way?
Well just purchased two cycloDS for me and my mate from Console Up. I did not opt for the firmware update which was £4 I think but the URL on the tin does not load up. I am guessing this may be a temporary issue but www.cyclopsds.com aint loading. Where can I download the firmware from or is that it? Cheers
