Can anyone tell me what video converter that is free and good???

Okay got the free download manager....and when i tried to download a video i only got to 72% because i think i lost the connection for 1 minute.......but when i got the connection back it would let me start from where it ended like it's supposed to-------am i supposed to click restart or something else....because i clicked start download but then it said download stopped ???
