Unlocked 7373 not supported by AT&T USA? Really?

A (unlocked)NOKIA 7373 i just bought for my daughter won't work on AT&T USA? They tell me that is not on their list of "autherized" phones.Although the GSM mghtz(bandwith) range certainly falls in-line w/what AT&T uses on its network?....I'm confused. I've heard stuff like this from them before. And have always found a way around it before(thanks to the awsome folks at AD). Will someone please tell me i did'nt just waste $170.00 for nothing, because getting my money back does'nt seem realistic. If they're lying to me, and there is a FIX for this, i'd be more than happy to donate to the cause of anyone that can help me out. It beats watching my daughter cry! LOL!
