What I mean is WMC a stand alone operating system? or can I use it with my windows xp pro. What I wanted to do is run winxp on my main monitor and use WMC for movies on my TV, is that possible.

No it is not. Windows Media Center, from what I know of is a Stand Alone OS. My parents own an HP Desktop PC and the OS is Windows Media Center 2005 (windows xp pro). Windows Media Center is a special edition for Windows XP Professional. So if you want it, you have to go buy the installation Disk and re-install Windows XP again but with Media Center. So your out of luck. But just know that Windows Vista includes Media Center.
