   i have a wire laser mouse, and it keeps shutting off every five minutes. i gotta keep going in the back of the computer switching usb ports everytime. is the mouse fauly i had it for maybe 3 years now

   moved to correct forum as not a windows issue. try the mouse on another pc to see what happens. are you using any other usb device like a printer or scanner?
