Hi, I'm fixing my co-workers sons' laptop and I can't seem to find any drivers for it. I am going to wipe the hdd and just reinstall win98. Sounds easy. But to no avail my searches have been. I need sound, video and whatever else I'll be needing to make this Compaq Presario 2940 laptop fully functional. If you know where I can look, how to make my googling more sufficient, or can just send me a direct link to a download page, that'd be super! Thanks.

Can't a backup of the original drivers be made from the windows folder, i've seen software that supposedly can backup the driver folder tho i'm not sure about win 98,there's bound to be articles if hp don't have the drivers you need,as an after thought you could try talk'n him into win 2000 for security assuming the lappy can run it or even a linux desktop which would be better still.

Actually the drivers maybe able to be got from the original manufacturer ? audio is usually by realtek etc coz hp's site can be a bastard to navigate,it's like they try to hide everything..lol..
