    hello

recently all videos i try to play i get a black screen. i can't figure out what i might have done that caused it to happen except install adobe's CS4 suite (although i'm not sure what relevance that may have.)

this videos used to play fine. most of them are MKV or xvid AVI's.

gspot tells me i have the proper codecs and filters installed (ffdshow), and the render tests give me no errors, however gspot plays them back blank as well.

i do a lot of video work and this is super frustrating. any help would be appreciated.

Did you dump the Adobe, and then try them again?

no. i did however try something called the "SMR Patch", and somehow it fixed it. i found it through this forum. here is the link: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/8294

there is probably a more recent one than pre-2002, but it worked for me..
