Hey guys, I had to buy a new mobo as the other one crapped out on me. The new one is a ASUS P5E-VM HDMI. After installing it and whatnot, there is no 'Standby' option when trying to shutdown my comp. Also, when I select shutdown it automatically restarts as if I hit the 'restart' button. Also, (I know, asking alot) after I put in my password it always gives me a paging error message. Any help would be great, thanks!
Hi go to the screen saver option in the display in control pannel then you should see a button that says power then set up your sand by as you wish. http://img372.imageshack.us/my.php?image=powersettingxoj2.png here made this for you. Edit Fixing link
Thanks for the input. I already tried that, but there is no option in this window for standby or hibernate...
Hi ronjoe Sounds like a driver problem. Look here: http://blogs.chron.com/helpline/archives/2005/08/no_standby_opti.html Best Regards
Try running Microsoft Update in "Custom" mode and see if any software updates (especially drivers) show up in the list. If so, download and install. Good link ugc.
When you get to the Microsoft Update site you get to choose between two methods: "Express" which is for high priority security update, and "Custom" which also includes software and driver updates giving you a relevant list to choose from.
ah, yeah I went there and saw that. installed almost every update available and still no hibernate or standby options.
if you have another hdd you could try doing a clean install and see if that works because you could have a problem with windows itself. PS could be somthing to do with the driver files mixed up.
Perhaps some of your Windows files have become corrupted somehow. You coud try to run a sfc /scannow to check it out. I ran this test last night for the heck of it. It takes about 35 minutes and you'll need your installation disc. It won't change any program files or updated Windows files. Consider this: http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
