Power Calibration errors often occur when the burner cannot set the laser power required to burn the disk. Changing to a known, reliable brand (Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden) often cures it.
Are you sure the problem is with the disk? If so, are there any cheaper blank discs I can buy that will work?
Its sounds like the drive can not develop enough juice to burn your disc.So they recommend a known good brand that does not have problems. If you try them and still have errors you can assume its not the discs. Why burn on to anything other than a quality disc?
Okay, now I got new discs, Memorex DVD-R, and sometimes they work, but sometimes they don't I have burnt 5 discs so far. 2 worked. 2 were successful but when I put them in the Dvd player, it said "disc error" and "check disc".
But you still don't have quality media to burn. Can you code the memorex out for us.. use dvd Identifier http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:CMC MAG. AM3] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R] Manufacturer Name : [CMC Magnetics Corp.] Manufacturer ID : [CMC MAG. AM3] Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ DVD Identifier V5.0.1 - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just to toss my two cents around, those AM3's are not reliable media IMO. You'd do well to heed the advice given and switch to a better quality media.
If you watch the sales you can get Verbies for pretty cheap from time to time. Check here as this thread is updated often: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/715004 I get my Taiyo Yuden's online at supermediastore.com or meritline.com.
This is how your Memorex are made, so you're better off buying some good media: http://www.todaysbigthing.com/2008/06/30
