I have a Dell Dimension 3000 got it a long long time ago
and was planning to get the logitech x-540 speakers half way looking around i found out that this piece of **** doesnt support 5.1.
is it worth it to buy a pci sound card for it?
or should i just get a new pc or build one since theres no point in trying to upgrade it it only has 2 pci slots
    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance

Even a cheap 20.00 soundcard will improve the quality of your computer. You can get soundcards with 5.1 at that pricepoint even cheaper no-brands. If all I wanted was better sound I would buy the soundcard instead of a new computer.

I myself notice a big difference in sound quality from PCI soundcard and built-in sound. It's worth the upgrade for me.

As long as you have the available PCI slot upgrade.

In reply to IS IT WORTH IT? I would say it depends on what you want your computer to do, What you need it to do. Your computer is somewhat outdated. In some peoples opinions, its VERY outdated. I would say if you wanna do some MODERN gaming, your gonna need to upgrade big time. But if your just using it for a media center, then I say go for it. I have a lesser system running dvd's, mp3's, seamlessly. :D
