My xbox360 recently got banned and i have a different xbox that has a problem reading games so i was wondering if i could swap my dvd drive thats in my banned xbox and put it in the other one thats not banned if it would work..

you can and you cant, let me explain
you can spoof your old drive to think its your new drive by,

getting the key from your new drive, if its a liteon

then creating spoofed firmware from your old drives firmware and the drive key of your liteon and then flashing your old drive with it
ofcourse if your new drive is not a liteon then you can just flash it

the reason you cant just simply swap them is microsoft marry the drives to the motherboard with a unique key.

but trust me a bit of searching will have you all the instructions to flash or to spoof (if you have a liteon)
