Hey, my friend has an external HD and he's running a Mac laptop (unsure if iMac or Mac book).

I couldn't find anything on here about using an external HD as an installation path for new programs, and he's wondering how to go about it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you just install your program to the external like installing them normaly to internal drive.

    1. make an apps folder on external drive

    2. install all your program to it like normaly you would drag the program in the applacation folder. but just drag them to the apps folder on the external insted.

    Here we go!!!

Ok when installing applications to the external hard drive.

    REMEMBER THESE ITEMS.

    1. games don't run worth snot off of a external

    2. In order to transfer garageband to a external hard drive you need garageband anywhere to copy the application once installed and the instrument files as well.

    3. When running office make sure your updates are being manually installed as microsoft update wont detect externals.

Now with that out of the way.

What is your freind trying to do.?
